Semester Two
This semester, I covered the renovated library opening on our Instagram Stories. It was a highly anticipated event in the Paly community, so I was excited to cover such an important moment. I posted a photo of the entrance along with videos and photos of the interior of the library. With these photos and videos, I included facts about each space that I heard from the librarian. I also took a photo of one of the librarians and added a quote from her about the new library. Covering a monumental event was exciting and fun! I also took photos of Gavin Newsom's visit to Paly that I asked to be posted on our Instagram account. While I think I could've gotten more photos on our Instagram this year, I'm confident that the new multimedia editor will work on, as she cited is as a priority to reach the student body.
Semester One
This semester, I covered two events via Instagram Stories: the Paly/Greene band concert and a girl’s soccer game against Archbishop Mitty. For the band concert, I moved around in the theater in between acts to get different angles of the stage. I also used photos, videos, and Boomerangs to better engage the audience. As for the soccer game, it moved pretty quickly and at first I didn’t get a lot of great shots or missed goals; however, near the end I managed to get some good videos and Boomerangs of the players in action. Next semester, I plan on working more with Vivian to post photos on Instagram. While our Instagram story coverage is a lot better, we could definitely post more often. For instance, I liked the graphic that was posted about the fires a few months ago. We could post more things like that, along with news updates and updates on our articles, like Voice and Verde do with their social media. Since Instagram is the social media that most teenagers use, it’s important that we utilise it more as a source. I look forward to doing more multimedia work next semester!
